Local Poet/Author Releases New Book

Published poet, writer and award-winner Nancy Leake of Matlacha has done it again. She published a children's book of animal poems and fun animal facts called Crazy Critters; Animal Poems to Make You Laugh. The book was written and illustrated by Nancy. It is published in black and white so children can interpret the characters by coloring them after reading the book.

Nancy's works have appeared in the Gary Post-Tribune, the Fort Myers – Cape Coral News-Press, Writers Currents, and books published by the Pine Island Writers. Nancy won first place for her poetry in the first Judged and Juried competition at Berreitter Photography and Gallery in St. James City, Florida and the Gulf Coast Writers Association Writers Contest for children's poetry. She has been invited to read her poetry at many events including the Evening of Poetry at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda.

Nancy writes short stories and poems about nature, the island, aging, and also children's stories and poems. She is a member of the Pine Island Writers who meet weekly (except many holidays) on Mondays at 7pm at St. John's Episcopal Church in St. James City.

Nancy previously published a book of poetry called
Growing Old on Island Time. Both books can be purchased at Amazon.
